Novalene™ is produced from plants which are converted to pure hydrocarbon olefins through an advanced
industrial biotechnology platform. Due to this production process, Novalene is a pure hydrocarbon, containing
none of the impurities found in conventional olefins derived from crude petroleum or natural gas processes.
Novalene is designed to enter into all reactions typical of synthetic, non-renewable olefins.
It can be used in the production of amines and amine oxides, oxo alcohols, alkylated aromatics, alpha olefin sulfonates, alkyl succinic anhydrides, drilling fluids, and epoxides. Novalene leads the market in key environmental metrics including biodegradability, toxicity, and renewability to enable a chemical platform to perform with reduced environmental impact.
- 100% renewable with a negative carbon footprint
- Narrow range of molecular weight for speciality chemical applications
- Linear structure to provide consistent reactions and final product properties
- Contribute to lower emissions
- Reduces potential for environmental damage caused by spills or leakage
Benefits from renewable, high performance olefins
- No Sulfur Content
None of the impurities in crude petroleum or natural gas processes

Frequently Asked Questions
We offer an efficient means to increase performance while lowering carbon footprint. Be it in the form of process oils, or a monomeric building block, incorporating Novvi materials is a great way to create high-performance sustainable materials.
Absolutely, our products are free from impurities, and also have very tight molecular weight distribution.
We welcome the chance to have this conversation about the GHG emissions of your product. Using published data and our Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for PureNova we can estimate a net difference of carbon emissions on your product, which can, in turn, be communicated to your customer. This level of transparency may not be typical, but we believe that it is essential to achieving your carbon neutrality pledge.
PureNova is a pure, non-polar paraffin molecule, and consequently can provide superior compatibility in non-polar polymers. For example, styrenic-block-copolymers, polyolefins and polyolefin elastomers, EPDM, and natural rubber.
Similarly, PureNova is compatible with while oils, silicone oils, triglycerides, and many other oils that could be used in processing. You can confidently drop it into existing manufacturing setting knowing that it will not create a cumbersome changeover.
Absolutely not. PureNova grades have demonstrated resilience against heat, UV and time without any measurable property loss. Biodegradability is initiated under very specific set of conditions, and not one that a performance plastic is likely to encounter during its serviceable life. You can be confident that including PureNova into your formulations will deliver unparalleled stability in the most arduous of conditions.
